Star Citizen's Developer Banishes Over 600 Accounts for Exploiting Bugs to Disrupt In-Game Economy

Cloud Imperium Games, the developer of Star Citizen, has recently disciplined over 600 players for manipulating multiple game glitches, threatening the game's stability and negatively affecting the in-game economy.

Will 'Soulcrusher' Leverett, Director of Player Relations for Star Citizen, touched upon the issue of aUEC bugs and account suspensions in an official statement. He announced the successful completion of the investigation into several glitches in the game besides the suspension of above 600 violating player accounts. The multiple aUEC bugs in version 3.23.1a have also been rectified.

Furthermore, Leverett noted that these glitches are commonplace during the development phase. He views them as a byproduct of open development approach which involves closely working with the community. He encouraged players' endeavors to identify, test, and report these bugs. However, he also stressed that the company would not tolerate any misuse of these bugs for personal gain once identified and verified.

With Star Citizen being the highest crowd-funded video game project to date, CEO of Cloud Imperium Games, Chris Roberts, recently stated that the game is striving towards the 'finish line' of version 1.0.
