Google officially unveiled its latest AI system, SIMA (Scalable Instructable Multiworld Agent), on March 13th in the local time of the United States. This system not only has the ability to instantly listen to and follow human instructions but also possesses the capability to intelligently manipulate game content.
DeepMind previously released AlphaStar, an artificial intelligence that achieved the "Grandmaster" level in "StarCraft II." Now, DeepMind is further shifting its focus from a single game to a universal, programmable game AI. In its latest technical report, Google DeepMind introduced SIMA, a general AI agent designed for 3D virtual environments. Through collaboration with game developers, SIMA has been trained on various games including "No Man's Sky," "Teardown," and "Goat Simulator."
This research marks the first time an AI agent has demonstrated its ability to understand diverse gaming environments and execute tasks following natural language commands like humans. DeepMind aims to expand the capabilities of general AI agents from the virtual world to the real world through this research.
