Apex Legends Esports Season 15 Meta Analysis | PLANET9 x Newer Esports Apex Legends WES Episode 1

The play-in stage and qualifier stage of the Newer Esports x PLANET9 Apex Legends World Elite Community Series EP.1 - Break The Ice has ended. We believe everyone has known more about the new changes of season 15, especially for the team comp. And here we will be talking and analyzing the new tournament meta of Apex Legends.

The legend of Valkyrie is still continuing

As many players and coaches have pointed out, the takeoff of Valkyrie gives teams a very strong rotate ability, no matter how many times the dev has nerfed it. In particular, the changes to the closing lap in these seasons have forced teams to enter early. This change allows teams with Valkyrie to have a greater say in the turn, and they can choose to enter early and look for resources later in the circle or look for resources first on the edge of the circle. This reduces the dependence on the luck of closing laps and gives them more control over the map.

Crypto + Valkyrie + Wattson

Compared to the previous tournament meta of Newcastle + Valkyrie + Wattson and the Caustic + Gibraltar. The combination of a Valkyrie + Crypto with Watson developed in APAC North may become the new mainstream. As mentioned in the previous point, the change in the closing zone forces teams to be strategic in their turns, while shortening the time for teams to collect resources in the first two zones, indirectly reducing the team's ability to fight in the first two zones with the Valkyrie ult. Therefore, the "position" becomes the key. Using a drone to set the team up at the right place and provide information to Wattson to build the "absolute defense". When the enemy pushes in, Wattson, together with the Crypto ult, causes a very big difference in status, and the team can then use the space to harvest the enemies in bad shape. This simple, brutal ability combo has given the team a better advantage, so this lineup is popular with mid-skill players and also professional players.

Seer is the core of aggressive team comp

As the recent interview video by Newer Esports. Free Agent pointed out that, Seer is a very OP character in the game. It is especially suitable for fast-paced, aggressive-style teams. His passive and ult detection ability can quickly locate the number and position of enemies in the attacking area and make use of the information gap to push forward quickly. The Q of Seer can interrupt the enemy's action. Therefore, many teams prefer to use champions with the aggressive offensive ability as Seer. LaLaBang used a combination of Maggie and Seer in the qualifier stage earlier on, and it was a bloodbath for the entire B-team. They first use Maggie's drill to force the enemy out of cover and then use the ult to speed up the team to accelerate the pursuit. Then Seer can interrupt the enemy's chance to replenish their status due to the damage caused by the drill. The fast pace of this lineup is why it is only suitable for high-level teams.

Is Catalyst good?

The most important question that everyone asks about in the new season is the strength of Catalyst. In the WES there are a lot of teams using  Catalyst. The basic combination is Valkyrie + Bloodhound or Seer. Bloodhound and Seer are definitely the better combinations for the current meta. The principle is a bit like the combination of Bangalore and the above two characters, using the ult to block the opponent's vision, with the scanning champion and fight by the information gap.
